Aubrey Mitchell
Aubrey's equine experience started here in Durham at the age of seven. Formally educated in
England, she graduated with a diploma in Equine Studies and Animal Sciences and holds her British
Horse Society Assistant Instructor Certifcate (BHSAI).
Aubrey feels she was privileged to have ridden in true horse country and her time spent
riding in Britain still shows in her riding, teaching and horsemanship today.
Aubrey is an Equine Canada Certified Instructor.
When it comes to teaching and molding young riders, she draws from her experiences
spent eventing and showing ponies on the hunter circuits. Aubrey’s love for the fundamentals
translates into a strong foundation which riders can then apply to their work over fences.
Asia Tomlinson
Asia has been with Applewood since it first opened its doors in 2014. An accomplished rider, Asia, achieved her Equine Canada Rider Level 5 by the age of 15. She hopes to pursue further levels when her busy schedule allows.
Asia has been riding since she was 6 years old. She demonstrates excellent “feel” and a strong foundation which allows her to showcase the very best from a variety of different mounts. An animal lover at heart, she has always had a natural understanding of equine behaviour.
Asia has a keen work ethic and is a stickler for the rules! These traits are leading her to pursue a career in law enforcement. In her little spare time she enjoys team sports and spending time with family.
Olivia Moffat
Olivia has been a valued member of the Applewood team since 2015. Since starting riding at the age of 6, Liv has always loved horses and feels very fortunate to have worked alongside them for several years. Liv feels there is always more to learn, and in her time at Applewood, has begun her steps to accreditation through the Equine Canada Rider Level Program.
Olivia enjoys getting to know everyone at the farm and will always greet them with a friendly smile! Her kind and supportive spirit makes her a great role model to younger students.
It is no surprise that Olivia spends many hours in the saddle! Her soft style and patient approach make her extremely beneficial for bringing out the best in the more sensitive riding horses. Olivia showcases beautiful equitation and a natural affinity for the hunter jumper disciplines.
Olivia also dedicates much of her own time to her other passions. She is both a natural photographer and artist. Liv is currently studying to become an Urban Planner and when the time is right, hopes to have a facility of her own someday!

We are very fortunate to have our blacksmith live on site! Don Reid of DR Farrier Services is responsible for all of our horse’s hoof care. Don uses traditional techniques to achieve optimal results with hopes to maintain or improve the horse’s health and performance. Don’s years of experience also enables him to deal with corrective shoeing for many conditions and injuries.
A farrier’s craft requires precision and Don Reid’s attention to detail shows in the quality of his work. Care is always taken to make the experience with the farrier a positive one.
